MEMU Car Shed, Khurda Road is the only MEMU shed of East Coast Railway and the lifeline of Passenger Service. Nearest Railway Station is Khurda Road and Airport is Bhubaneswar. The marvellous journey of the shed was started on 22.06.2028 with Conventional rakes which extended its fleet to 3-Phase rakes since Deceber-2021. State of Art Infrastructural Development can be seen in the new LR inspection Bay commissioned in Nov-2023 (02 lines, each 16 coach capacity); in new HR Bay with 35/7.5 Ton EOT crane & other M&P facility commissioned in July-2023 and in CNC under floor pit wheel lathe having line capacity to accommodate 16 coaches.

The main activities of the shed includes the minor schedule inspections, planning & progress of major schedule inspection, implementation of Fire prevention/anti-derailment/accident guidelines, RDSO SMI/MS/TC/Reliability Action Plans (RAP), Stores planning, Works planning, round the clock working of all M&P items, important condition monitoring activities like UST, DPT, BDV, DGA Analysis and all types of system improvement measures to ensure safety of this passenger stock.
